EFL Teacher Intervention in Mediating Students’ Interaction in Web-Based Collaborative Writing Environment Using Google Docs

The level of teacher’s assistance in web-based collaborative writing activities affected students’ collaboration and non-collaboration. Therefore, the role enhancing active learning was inseparable. This study focused on EFL teacher moves facilitating groups’ work using tool, Google Docs to support online learning. Conducting technology valuable for promoting participation collaboration. participant this qualitative research case an at Indonesian vocational high school. data based a semi-structured interview document analysis worksheet teacher-students’ written conversation Docs. findings showed that medium facilitated assisted engagement through organisational, socio-cognitive, socio-affective environment. Significantly, favorably convenience deliver electronic feedback monitoring progress quickly. Unfortunately, issues (e.g. less collaboration, cheated internet), technical unstable internet connection, low devices’ specification) were commonly problems encountered by teacher. as help creating teaching writing. implies might be more concerned selecting appropriate types intervention utilize suitable media teaching’s styles enriching skills’ training. In addition, students could enjoyed acquired benefits from having teacher's collaboratively constructing text with their teammates.
